Frequently Asked Questions

What is Digital Ad Optimization?

Digital ad optimization is an ongoing process for efficiently finding and maintaining maximum or minimum values in online campaigns over time. Optimization consists of testing, observation, measurement, and analysis of advertising variables subject to digital advertising platform constraints.

How is Rep Empire Different from Other Social Agencies?

Rep Empire specializes in maximizing return-on-ad-spend (RoAS) and minimizing cost-per-acquisition (CPA) for advertising clients on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. We employ proprietary algorithms, platform-specific tactics, and extensive cross-vertical knowledge to efficiently build, manage, and optimize social advertising campaigns for maximum impact.

Unlike traditional media buying companies and full-service agencies, Rep Empire’s digital ad optimization service is fully transparent and specialized. Our ongoing ad optimization process ensures clients achieve profitability by testing digital advertising variables and determining which factors yield optimal long-term results.

Rep Empire operates a performance-driven business model: campaign creation, management, optimization, and reporting are covered by a monthly minimum service rate for ad budgets below monthly spend thresholds. As optimization efforts pay-off and client budgets exceed monthly spend thresholds, Rep Empire transitions from a minimum monthly service fee to a percentage-of-ad-spend service fee. This model is proven to provide maximum benefit to all parties by aligning all interests in the best possible manner.

What can I Advertise on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest?

Facebook maintains a strict Advertising Policy to protect users from seeing objectionable content in Facebook and Instagram Newsfeeds. Ads may not promote or display content which targets race, religion, sexual orientation, or other personal attributes. Similarly, ads may not promote “ideal body image” or show before-and-after photos to imply or create negative self-perceptions among Facebook users.

Similar to Facebook, both LinkedIn and Pinterest maintain advertising guidelines to protect users from undesirable or offensive content. Please refer to the LinkedIn Advertising Guidelines and Pinterest Advertising Standards for information on which products and services are deemed acceptable.

What is Facebook’s 20% Text Rule for Image and Video Ads?

Facebook limits the amount of text-overlay in images and videos to maintain positive user experiences. Text overlay includes any text or logos added to images for advertising purposes. Images and videos with too much text are penalized with decreased delivery and higher costs. Advertisers can estimate the percentage of text using Facebook’s Text Overlay Estimation Tool.

How Much Should I Budget for Facebook Advertising?

Budgets and objectives are unique to each advertiser on Facebook. We recommend new advertisers start small and scale budgets based on performance and data-supported decisions.

If you have no historical advertising data (or are interested in testing), we recommend starting with a $1,000/month advertising budget allocated at $33/day ad spend. This level of spend allows us to target statistically-significant populations and collect enough data to determine which demographic targets, ad types, ad placements, and content formats yield best results. Each advertiser objective is unique, so please contact us to discuss your unique situation.

How Much Should I Budget for LinkedIn Ads or Pinterest Ads?

LinkedIn and Pinterest advertising networks both provide ad solutions to connect advertisers with their unique user populations. Due to unique attributes associated with each ad network, there is no “one size fits all” budget. Recommended ad budgets, including estimated Cost-per-Click (CPC) and Cost-per-Thousand-Impression (CPM) values, are unique to every advertiser and objective.

Generally, if you have no historical advertising data (or are interested in testing), we recommend $2,500/month ad budgets for LinkedIn, or $3,000/month ad budgets for Pinterest. At minimum, these budget recommendations ensure Rep Empire optimizers are able to effectively test enough ad variables with statistically significant population sizes to yield actionable data for long-term results. Because advertiser objectives are unique to both LinkedIn and Pinterest, please contact us to discuss your individual situation.

What are Conversion-Tracking Pixels and Mobile SDK’s? How are they used?

Advertisers on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest advertising platforms employ tracking pixels (bits of JavaScript code) which your developer installs on your website to track leads, purchases, website visits, and other conversions. Tracking pixels are linked with digital ads to provide attribution data and valuable information for measurement and performance.

Similar to websites, mobile applications employ in-app conversion tracking systems called Software Development Kits (SDK’s). SDK’s are provided by digital advertising platforms to mobile app developers for communication and measurement. SDK’s allow app advertisers to link app installs, open rates, mobile usage times, and other in-app functions with digital ad campaigns.

Prior to any campaign launch, Rep Empire requires advertisers to install and verify conversion-tracking pixels and/or mobile app SDK’s to ensure campaigns are measurable and attributable.
